Most backup products copy data and report that the copy finished. We restore the copy every night into an isolated standby machine and prove the system comes back — it boots, the database is structurally sound, and yesterday's data is in it. The difference is the difference between "we have backups" and "we know our backups work".

No. On supported database systems we use application-aware live-copy (Continuous Operation), so the backup is taken while the business runs. A deeper full-image backup runs weekly in a short planned window, typically overnight.

The verification happens on your own hardware, on an isolated network. What reaches our dashboard is the judgement — booleans, timestamps, counts — never customer records, invoices, or names. Offsite copies, where you choose them, are encrypted before they leave.

One small agent on the host, making outbound HTTPS connections only. No open ports, no VPN, no firewall changes, no appliance. If your internet goes down, the backup still runs — it reports in when the line returns.

You get an alert, and so do we — email immediately, SMS for critical failures on higher plans. Just as importantly: if the nightly verdict simply never arrives by its deadline, that silence raises the same alarm. Nothing fails quietly.
